Forty years ago, six young fashion designers from Antwerp conquered the international catwalks and changed the fashion landscape forever. With their avant-garde designs, Walter Van Beirendonck, Ann Demeulemeester, Dries Van Noten, Dirk Bikkembergs, Dirk Van Saene and Marina Yee put Belgium on the international map of the fashion world. They quickly became known as The Antwerp Six, a label that, despite their divergent visions, made them a mythical entity. But was that group identity real or mainly a construct of the outside world?
